Carmine Fuego

Carmine lost her parents during the war. Her mother was executed and her father was reported as missing, leaving her some debt and completely alone. One day, as she was wandering in her ragged, dirty clothes, looking for something to eat, one man noticed her, approached her and asked her if she needed any help. Flattered as she was by his kindness, and a bit embarrassed for her appearance, she just smiled. He, Mark Mauvais, took her under his protection, giving her some clean clothes and a small amount of money to survive. Day by day, she started falling in love with him, despite the shadows she could detect in his eyes. After all, she was all alone. They met quite frequently and he was always kind to her, until one day, he told her that it was time for his payback, forcing her to work in his cabaret nightclub "Noir" in the red-light district of the town. Having no income and unable to survive, she agreed, with her heart heavy and broken. She became the star of Cabaret "Noir" under the name "Carmine Fuego", meeting various artists, actors and intellectuals, however, in the infamous and underground nature of the cabaret, her adult male audience was loathsome and repulsive. Every night she scuffs her skin, struggling to remove every filthy touch, yet every night she gets on stage singing her story with her betrayed heart..

Davina

Davina was the main performer in a variety show called "Les ailes d'ange - Spectacle de variétés". Every night, as soon as she opened her mouth to sing, the most ethereal voice anyone had ever heard was coming out of her. She had the voice of an angel, no one had ever heard anything like that before, and within the first seconds of her singing, everyone was kneeling in front of her, declaring their allegiance and homage to her. This, however, was extremely unpleasant to the Master of the variety show, as he thought Davina's extraordinary power to capture everyone's soul would be catastrophic for him, if she ever decide to use it. He was trying very hard not to be enslaved himself, too, by her angelic voice. He decided to make her leave, back to her hometown once and for all, by giving order to some infamous friends of his to murder her parents. Davina left forever and never came back. But her story will be revealed every time someone looks deep into her eyes...

Rose - The Girl who Laughs

Always weird, always an outcast, Rose was an orphan who was raised in poverty and seclusion. Her days at the local school were miserable and terrifying sometimes. Her docile and somehow oblivious persona invited contempt and ridicule. There was no one to turn to…The years passed and Rose was growing impatient to leave in search of some sort of a happy life. At a local summertime festival she went to see a travelling human freak show. To her surprise, the whole freak show cast was receiving the same kind of treatment as she did. An unexpected feeling of affection and relation overcame her. She could see herself among them, sharing what she knew best: contempt. It was time to leave, and the freak show caravan was her way out! Now she could be among her own...Her journey had begun with hope and promises. Her feeling of joy among her new friends was evident immediately. Sadly for her, the other freaks did not think of her as one of their own. Her kind and friendly manners somehow infuriated them as they felt even uglier in front her newfound happiness. One night, after the caravan headed for the next town, the freaks decided to give her what she "wanted", a reason to belong...they slashed and carved her cheeks, creating the most permanent, huge but ultimately sad smile on her face...Now she became a genuine freak, a smiling wound that never heals...

Maleficia

Maleficia was intended to be the name of an unfortunate girl which was born dead. The horror of a soul with no body gave birth to hate...Her remains lay forgotten under the ruins of her home. Many centuries later, a young witch unearthed her little skeleton, with sorcerous whispers and magic spells... Maleficia finally found a body to possess...Her hate and the witch's dark knowledge gave birth to a new evil...

Melody - The Girl with the Clockwork Heart

Melody was born with a weak heart. Every time she was overwhelmed with joy or sadness, a little piece of her heart would break. When the last piece was about to fracture, she decided to travel far away, to a land where a man lived that was said to be a doctor and wizard, and who was - among other occupations - repairing the frail hearts. As soon as she found his house, she stood hesitantly on the threshold, listening to the most outstanding music that was coming from inside. She knocked and he opened the door, and when her eyes dove into his, the last piece broke, leaving her almost breathless in his hands. He immediately replaced her heart with a new clockwork one, and Melody was saved, but condemned to eternal love for the rest of her life.
